According to the 2017 publication of index crime summaries compiled by the Criminal Justice Information Services Division of the FBI, Winnebago County Sheriff department recorded a net total of 232 reported offenses in the year, indicating an 11.7% decline in crime rate when compared to the previous year's data. A further breakdown revealed larceny-theft to be the most recurring of all the crimes with 139 reported incidents in the year, this was followed closely behind by offenses of burglary and motor vehicle theft which reportedly occurred 63 and 14 times respectively, thus making property crime the more popular subset of crimes. On the other hand, incidents of violent crimes declined from 21 reports in the previous year to 16 incidents in 2017. Aggravated assault and robbery plummeted from 19 and 11 incidents to 15 and 0 respectively.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement services to the county, including maintaining and disseminating local criminal history information. However, the records available through this office are limited to county-based incidents and offenses. Full criminal history information can only be retrieved from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, which serves as the central repository for criminal history information for the state of Wisconsin.
How to Get Criminal Records
To obtain criminal records from the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office, interested persons may fill out the Sheriff's Online Records Check Form. This will require sufficient information about the subject as well as a valid email address to which the results can be sent.
